That moment of pure joy when you’re handed a delicious bowl of freshly made hummus and Shakshuka 🙌🏻 Iowa City Downtown District

Thank you for such a fun night, Top Chef 2019! We are so grateful to have been able to participate alongside so many amazing Iowa City restaurants and bars! We served bowls of delicious and homemade Humshuka (hummus and shakshuka) and hope you all enjoyed it! Although it is not on our standard menu, come on in and ask about it! We can make it for your next event!

Next up for #cortadospotlight is Daniel Silva! He’s been an absolute staple to this place since the opening day. Danny says his favorite thing to order is either a falafel pita wrap or the chicken schnitzel on baguette. He will also come out of the kitchen and drink a caramel cold brew with almond milk when the mood strikes him. Danny is originally from Inglewood, California so we’re very grateful he’s sticking out the cold Iowa winter for us!! He loves his job because it keeps him super active and Cortado is his home away from home. Stop in to see him sporting his famous Yoshi hat probably carrying an outrageous amount of food!

Rhea burns, the incredibly sweet and talented barista who has been with us since the very start is our next #cortadospotlight ! Her go to drink is a double soy latte and her favorite pastry item is a savory and flakey Bureka! She loves what she does because that means being around her coworkers and learning what good coffee really is. We’re all so proud of her as she’s accepted a brand new job as an Event Supervisor for the University starting next Monday! Make sure to stop in this week and have Rhea make you one last drink!

Have you tried our Chicken Schnitzel yet?? It’s lightly breaded and fried to perfection!! Order it on your choice of baguette, ciabatta, or croissant!

A few photos of our crew prepping for dance marathon this past weekend. We are so thankful we were able to provide the dance marathoners with 2,000 falafel pita wraps at the event! We’re honored to have been involved in such an incredible student org!

Our next #cortadospotlight is the beaming, Lillian Boenker! She’s been making cortado a better place to be for about a year and a half now! Her favorite thing to drink is a double cuban cappuccino and she says she loves working here because her coworkers are her family. She’s currently our little workin’ woman as she’s student teaching at Liberty high school this semester! Be sure to come by Saturday’s to see this girl in action!

To kickoff a new series called #cortadospotlight where we introduce & highlight our amazing staff, we’re starting off with the one and only, Yochai Harel! Yochai is the owner and operator of Cortado and can usually be found drinking a single soy latte. One of his favorite parts of the job is interacting with customers (and tbh picking on his employees)! Stop by sometime and say hi to yochai👋🏼👋🏼
